The African Caribbean Enterprise Barnsley is based in Barnsley and was formed as a steering group in April 2002 by Mrs. Regina Trepczyk. Whereas later in November 2004 it became fully formed with a constitution and a working committee.

ACEB Aims:

  • To bringe together people with a common interest in African and Caribbean culture, whether it be in the music, food, fashion or lifestyle.

Stir it Up

An Afternoon of Caribbean Music and Food 11th December 2006


An afternoon of Caribbean delights with a Steel Band playing Caribbean calypso / Reggae music throughout the afternoon and evening. Some Limbo dancing took place, a traditional dance of the West Indies where dancers pass under a horizontal pole without touching the floor, Real Jamaican Food prepared in the Traditional Jamaican style, was served later in the afternoon.

 

Blah Bar served up some real Fancy cocktails just like it is on the beach in the Caribbean. A fantastic time was had by all, thanks to BBEMI staff, the Blah Bar, The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, all of the African Caribbean Enterprise Member and the general public of Barnsley.

Black History Exhibition 23rd October 2006
At the Barnsley Town Hall "When I Came to England" photo exhibition tell fascinating stories about the people who came from the Caribbean to live and work here during the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s.

Taste of Cultural Diversity 2005
Taste of Cultural Diversity event held on 15th October 2005 at Barnsley Town Hall. It’s a social event with Live Music, Dance and creative workshop as well as giving you the chance to taste food from the many different cultures that now call Barnsley home.
ACE Barnsley’s visit to Leeds West Indian Carnival 2006
The carnival was in Potternewton Park in Chapeltown, stalls fired up barbecues and served jerk chicken, Curried Goat, Dumplings and Rice & Peas. 28th August 2006
