The Bangladesh community has been in existence in Barnsley for over 20 years. It has been involved in community activities with the Sheffield Bengali community. The BBWA came into being, last year, formally under BBEMI's umbrella. BBWA runs Bengali women’s coffee mornings and also attend Eid gatherings with the Muslim community.

BBWA Aimse:

  • To promote and improve for Bangladeshi people, welfare, training, recreational and social activities.
  • To protect community from discrimination on the basis of race, religious opinion or nationality.
  • To promote and develop relationships with other community and voluntary organisations to identify shared interests and opportunities for collaboration.
  • To enable people from Bangladesh to be fully involved in the regeneration of Barnsley.

Taste of Culture Diversity 2005
BBWA participated this one day "Taste of Culture Diversity" event at the Barnsley Town Hall in September 2005. We had a stall which displayed pictures/ books to introduce Bengali culture to the Barnsley public.
